Metro Boomin teases “A FUTURISTIC SUMMA” mixtape

Metro Boomin is heating up the summer in a way only he can. Just days after the surprise success of his viral diss beat “BBL Drizzy,” the legendary producer is officially teasing a brand-new project titled “A FUTURISTIC SUMMA.” And if early signs are any indication, we’re in for one of the most sonically adventurous mixtapes of the year.
Metro previewed snippets on his Instagram Stories late Friday night—featuring glitchy synths, distorted basslines, and a vocal sample that fans believe is Playboi Carti. In his caption? Just four words: “WE NOT FROM HERE.” That was all it took. Within hours, #FuturisticSumma started trending on X (formerly Twitter), and fans flooded Reddit threads with speculation about features. Among the most talked-about rumored guests are Travis Scott, Don Toliver, Future, Baby Keem, and even Ice Spice.
Last week’s sudden drop of the all-instrumental track “BBL Drizzy” had the internet in flames. While Metro never explicitly said it was aimed at Drake, the cover art (a cartoon owl with a bandaged butt) and warped Toronto skyline made the target crystal clear. The track hit 3.3 million SoundCloud streams in just seven days, sparking memes, reaction videos, and even parody freestyles from underground rappers.
Now, it’s clear that “BBL Drizzy” was just the warm-up.
According to sources close to Metro, A FUTURISTIC SUMMA is expected to release on July 22, 2025, with a SoundCloud-first rollout before hitting platforms like Apple Music and Spotify. The theme of the mixtape leans heavily into futuristic dystopia, space-age romance, and surreal trap ambiance. Visually, the rollout is embracing neon aesthetics and cyberpunk inspiration, with teaser videos resembling something out of Blade Runner.
The mixtape is rumored to blend the cinematic darkness of Metro’s Heroes & Villains with the melodic bounce of Not All Heroes Wear Capes. One track reportedly features robotic AI vocals, while another could mark Metro’s first full-length production collaboration with Baby Keem.
Fan reactions have already flooded social media. One user wrote, “Metro making music like it’s 2040 already. This man don’t miss.” Another posted, “If ‘BBL Drizzy’ was the appetizer, ‘Futuristic Summa’ might be the whole buffet.”
Even producers like Hit-Boy and Mike WiLL Made-It have shown curiosity, dropping emojis under Metro’s teaser post on Instagram.
Metro Boomin isn’t just dropping beats—he’s creating a world. With A FUTURISTIC SUMMA on the way, he's blending digital chaos, trap elegance, and cultural jabs into one bold sonic statement. Summer’s not over yet, and Metro might just own the rest of it.
