Questions Arise About Gunna’s YSL Status as Label Removes Him Online
Gunna’s relationship with Young Stoner Life (YSL) Records appears increasingly strained, with fresh developments casting further doubt on his standing with the label. This week, fans observed that all posts referencing Gunna had been removed from YSL’s official Instagram account — a move that many interpret as a sign of disassociation.
The Atlanta rapper has faced ongoing scrutiny since securing his release from jail in December 2022 after entering an Alford plea in the high-profile YSL RICO case. Though the plea did not require an admission of guilt, it has fueled persistent allegations of cooperation with law enforcement — accusations Gunna and his legal team have repeatedly denied.
Initially, there were indications of continued support from YSL's figurehead Young Thug. Thug received special permission from a judge to collaborate with Gunna following his own release, suggesting the two remained on amicable terms. However, any appearance of unity was thrown into question when Thug posted — and swiftly deleted — a blunt message seemingly aimed at his former labelmate:
“Gunna stop acting like we friends on the internet, I don’t know u my guy.”
The post reignited public speculation over a rift between the two artists, as well as Gunna’s standing within the YSL camp.
Gunna’s former attorney, Steve Sadow, also weighed in earlier this year amid rising chatter following a leaked Young Thug song snippet that fans interpreted as a diss. In a detailed social media post, Sadow sought to set the record straight.
“I was Gunna’s attorney but I am NOT speaking on his behalf. This long post is solely to set out the truth,” he wrote.
“Gunna did NOT cooperate, and did NOTHING and said NOTHING to cause harm to Thug’s case.”
Sadow clarified that Gunna spent eight months in jail before his release and emphasized that his plea had no bearing on Young Thug’s trial. According to the attorney, Gunna was never named as a witness, nor did he testify or provide any information detrimental to co-defendants.
He further explained that Gunna received a five-year suspended sentence with no probation, travel restrictions, or reporting requirements.
“Over the last two years, from media reports, he has performed all over the world, achieved international fame and recognition, and earned millions of dollars,” Sadow noted.
As of now, neither Gunna nor YSL have issued an official statement regarding the label’s decision to remove his content from their platform.
